Earning community service hours

Mapping sidewalks counts as real volunteer work — many students earn school or organization service hours here. We track your time automatically; you map, get feedback, and submit your hours when you're done.

  1. 1

Learn what good labels look like

Read the common-mistakes guide first — a few minutes here saves hours of corrections later.

  2. 2

    Map for one hour

Signed in, click Start Exploring below and label for an hour. Your time is tracked automatically while you work.

  3. 3

    Email us for feedback

Send your username and sign-up email address to your supervisor at the address above. Mikey reviews your labels and replies within a couple of days with feedback and tips.

  4. 4

    Keep mapping, round by round

Do another hour, reply to the same email thread, and repeat. Once your labels look great, you're cleared to work as many hours as you need.

The feedback emails are required. Hours submitted without them are usually rejected — the training rounds are how we keep the map trustworthy.

See your logged time anytime on the Time Check page — it's also in your account menu, next to the link back to this page.
